To those of you still active -

I have verified for myself that AEGIS server programs (Account & Character from the 10.2 release, and Inter & Zone from the Xmas Present 11.3 release) interface properly using MSSQL 2008, rather than the old (and unsecure by comparison) MSSQL 2000.

However, the login and character server emulation programs - namely FR3DBr's - do not properly connect to MSSQL 2008 databases, at least on my machine.

Can anyone verify a working instance of the FR3DBr's emulators using SQL 2008? If not, then using the account and character servers from the 10.2 release, has anyone sucessfully circumvented the wPacketType error using a particular combination of client and sclientinfo.xml? I have SEARCHED AND TESTED most of the stickied clients in the client support section, as well as dug through even more archaic posts, and I cannot seem to find a working combination.

All persons planning to respond with "Use the search button," "Lol it doesn't work for you," or who plan to be generally unhelpful need not reply to this topic.

Yes mssql 2008 has always worked, it's been confirmed a long time ago. FR3DBr's emulators were crap to begin with, and are judging by his inactivity, no longer supported. They didn't run for me either.

I believe there was a twRO client supplied with those login/char servers that should work with them, try that one. Good luck

The twRO client for the 10.2 release account and character server do not seem to be compatible with the new kRO client as per my testing.

I recognized a major issue was not setting db ownership in SQL 2008. Mal's account emu works great now, but I can't seem to get a character server emulator that works. CharacterNET is no help, as you said.

Are you using the old CharacterSVR that FR3DBr released? If not, I would greatly appreciate knowing what character server you have used successfully.

EDIT: Got it working with that old CharacterSVR. Now I just need a client that won't crash.

It's unfortunate that he won't be returning. I know enough .NET to work with software similar to what FR3DBr has done, but university is taking up all of my time at the moment. At least playing around with what he has provided the community with has been greatly helpful in reestablishing my server.

fred will give you the src surly i you make a 12 char and uptdate from it he aint that picky his zone got beaten right last post at the new glance of our zone with 3-3 classes so go ask him else i will disgrealy get it from him ... we need that updated the login/char i need the 13.2 inter and make low rsrc inter not the three numb but real debug version like i did and this zone is 13.2 so lets go community we need updates from this zone
